Couture is fashion for real women

It is often said that ‘couture is fashion for real women’, and I would have to agree, not just because I’m a couturier, but because I’m a real woman too.

I’m no different to my clients. I work long weeks, I take short holidays, I have a professional life, I have a personal life, I have a family, I have pets, I have commitments, sometimes I’m busy, and sometimes I’m not – and these are the things that real women balance every single day.

Some days, we feel a million dollars in whatever we wear, and other days, it takes three hours in the morning to put just half an outfit together – and that’s completely normal when you’re shopping from mainstream brands.

I’ve watched women go through wardrobe struggles their whole lives (before coming to see me of course), and before I could make my own outfits, I had those mornings too. The fashion that’s sold on mainstream racks isn’t made for real women, and there isn’t a standard fit or size.

I can walk into one shop and be a certain size and then walk into another shop and need two sizes up. It’s frustrating, it’s time-consuming, and it doesn’t make getting dressed in the morning very comfortable when you feel like some things fit and some things just don’t.

This is why ‘couture is fashion for real women’.

When I work with a woman to design and make an outfit that is tailored to her body, to her own individual measurements – something special happens.

When a woman’s clothes fit in all the right places because it’s been tailored just for her – she finds a new kind of confidence, and it radiates.

Feeling good in your own skin and in your own clothes isn’t something that only size six women get, it’s something every woman deserves, and something every woman can have when she owns a bespoke, tailor-made wardrobe.

Book a private appointment with me at my Albert Park studio and let me show you just how good clothing can feel, when it’s made in a size ‘you’.
